Motor Insurance Motor Insurance is compulsory by law in most countries. It is to protect innocent 3rd party who is injured or died in motor accident that they or their dependants are assured of financial compensations from the wrongdoers' motor insurer. Motor Insurance is divided into 3 categories: Private Car, Commercial Vehicles and Motor Cycles. Private Car Insurance This insurance applies to private cars used for social and domestic purposes and/or business purposes. Comprehensive policies issued to individuals also include personal accident benefits for the insured and spouse, medical expenses and loss of, or damage to, rugs, clothes and personal belongings. Commercial Vehicles Vehicles used for commercial purposes which includes taxis, lorries, vans, hire cars and police cars are not insured under private car policies but under special contracts known as commercial vehicle policies. Motor Cycle Insurance Motor Cycle Insurance depends upon the machine whether it is moped or high powered motor cycle and on the age and experience of the cyclist. The cover is comparatively inexpensive relative to motor car insurance.
